New campaign: Belgocontrol to recruit air traffic controllers
Belgocontrol will be issuing a new competitive recruitment exam for air traffic controllers. The best candidates will be allowed to start their two-year air traffic controller training. Registrations for the exam are open from 1 to 31 October 2017 via the Belgocontrol website.

Open Company Day: Belgocontrol opens its doors
On Sunday 1 October, Belgocontrol will participate in Open Company Day. That day, visitors will have the unique opportunity to step behind the scenes of air traffic control as it is performed at and around Brussels Airport and in the skies above Belgium. We will welcome 1,200 guests. Registrations start on 18 September at 10 a.m.

Worldwide first for Belgocontrol meteo service
As of recently, Belgocontrol has been sending its operational meteorological data to its international partners in a new data format. The meteorological service of the Belgian air navigation service provider is the first in the world to be using that specific format. It is the first step in the development of new applications for the use of meteorological data in air traffic management.

Belgocontrol will provide air navigation services at the airport of Kortrijk-Wevelgem
As from November Belgocontrol will be active at the international airport of Kortrijk-Wevelgem. The public company will provide flight information as well as meteorological and technical services. In that way, Belgocontrol allows the airport to improve its activities and to perform instrument flights again – among other things thanks to new, satellite navigation-based procedures.

Cooperation between Belgocontrol, SOWAER and Defence: new radar in Florennes
Installed on a 30 meters high tower, the new radar is operational since this morning. It provides core information to air traffic controllers at Charleroi airport and Florennes military base, as well as for overflying the Belgian territory. Belgocontrol has invested five million euros in the new technical equipment.

Belgocontrol extends maintenance contract with Thales
In the framework of the international ‘Paris Air Show’ Belgocontrol and Thales signed an extended maintenance contract for the Eurocat system that manages air traffic (new name: TopSky ATC) and that is used by Belgocontrol. The closer cooperation with Thales will among other things enable direct and quick interventions on the Belgocontrol sites.

Belgocontrol and ULB join forces for Research and Development
Today Belgocontrol and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) entered into a partnership for Research and Development. The Institut de Gestion de l’Environnement et de l’Aménagement du Territoire (abbreviated to IGEAT) of the ULB will focus on the cartographic representation and the advanced spatial analysis of air traffic.
